About The Position

The Radiology Tech Associate – Student Tech performs patient-care duties and other professional activities to support patient care and treatment. The role works under the supervision of a radiology technologist and helps monitor patient flow in the department. It is intended for a senior student enrolled in a radiography program.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED with preliminary coursework toward a certificate or degree in a medical imaging field.
• Clinical experience based on the educational program affiliated with the pursuit of a career in medical imaging.
• BLS certification required.
• Senior student enrolled in a radiography program.

Nice To Haves

• Medical clerical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic diagnostic X-rays under the supervision of a radiology technologist.
• Identify patients and assist them with questions about procedures.
• Prepare patients for examinations and ensure patient safety when the radiology technologist is absent.
• Obtain medications, radiopharmaceuticals, or contrast media as directed for administration by an authorized licensed practitioner, technologist, or registered nurse.
• Assist physicians and technologists with diagnostic examinations in assigned modalities and career pursuits, including Radiography/Fluoroscopy, CT, IR, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET, and Ultrasound, including procedures involving contrast media.
• Retrieve patient orders and requisitions and support administrative or other workflow tasks in RIS, EMR, or other standard applications.
• Assist patients with restroom needs, bedpans, urinals, and other ancillary clinical support needs.
• Assist with administrative duties and quality assurance, safety, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
