About The Position

Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center GW Health is the first new full-service hospital in Washington, DC in more than 20 years! This teaching hospital integrates clinical care with existing providers, The George Washington University Hospital, and the Urgent Care Center in Ward 8. This clinical integration establishes a robust system of care for all District residents, but more importantly, it will ensure residents of Wards 7 and 8 have access to high quality care in their community. This full-service hospital includes 136 beds (with the ability to expand to 184 beds), a verified trauma center, adult and pediatric emergency departments, maternal health and delivery, an ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a community space, a 500-car garage and a helipad for emergency transports. We are seeking Radiology Student Technician (Full Time - Days). The Radiologic Student Techniologist performs optimal radiographs for all patient populations by proper positioning and exposure settings. The Radiologic Student Technologist will participate in all cross-training activities as necessary to function in multi-modality roles. The Radiologic Student Technologist will perform all duties to meet patient care needs within the scope of practice.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED and enrolled in Radiologic Technology program required.
  • Knowledge of diagnostic radiolographic procedures and performance standards.
  • BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates proper patient positioning for all patient populations including culture, gender, religion and age specific.
  • Determines proper exposure settings for individual body habitus as evidence by direct observation and film review.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the current NPSG with focus on Patient ID, Fall Prevention, Time-out, Site ID, and the CDC hand washing guidelines as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Adheres to Radiation Safety practices-gonad shielding, shielding, distance, and exposure time reduction as evidence by direct observation and quarterly film badge report review.
  • Provides patient transport properly to and from the department as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Maintains clean and neat work environment as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Consistently enters appropriate patient information into PACS /RIS as evidenced by direct observation.
  • Wears film badge above collar as per Radiation Safety Guidelines by direct observation.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality as evidenced by direct observation.
