About The Position

The Radiology Scheduler is responsible for accurately scheduling appointments in the scheduling system, requesting and verifying demographic information, and ensuring the validity of insurance and prior authorization needs. This role also involves documenting the appropriate diagnosis for scheduled radiographic procedures, communicating preparatory information to patients and physician's offices, and handling bookings in a timely manner. The scheduler must also be able to cancel and move bookings carefully, attend staff meetings and in-service education, and demonstrate a positive attitude towards healthcare team members and diverse patient populations.

  • Proficiency in reviewing and documenting insurance validity, prior authorization needs, and diagnosis for procedures.
  • Skill in communicating procedural information to patients and offices.
  • Accurate and complete entry of information from scripts.
  • Timely booking management and confirmation.
  • Careful handling of cancellations and rescheduling.
  • Attendance at staff meetings and in-service education.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately schedules appointments in scheduling system.
  • Request and verifies all demographic information and updates with each booking.
  • Reviews and documents validity of insurance, prior authorization needs and appropriate diagnosis for scheduled radiographic procedure.
  • Communicates appropriate preparatory information associated with procedure to patient and physician’s office.
  • Ensures that all relevant information on scripts for radiologic procedures is entered accurately and completely.
  • Handles all bookings in a timely manner and informs offices within a reasonable time (24hrs) with confirmation number.
  • Cancels booking and moves bookings carefully.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, in-service education as required.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward health care team members and diverse patient populations.
