About The Position

The Radiology Practitioner Assistant (RPA) will have core privileges that include, but are not limited to, scribing US, CR and CT reports for review with the interpreting radiologist. The RPA will audit radiologists’ reports for voice recognition errors and work closely with the ultrasound department. The role involves performing US-guided procedures such as hysterosonograms under the supervision of a radiologist. Additionally, the RPA will engage in fluoroscopic guided procedures like Upper GI series, Hysterosalpingography, ERCP, LPs, Myelography, VCUG, and Barium swallows. The position also includes performing fluoroscopically guided arthrograms and joint injections, as well as ultrasound and CT guided paracentesis and thoracentesis. The RPA may assist in non-endovascular imaging and guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including drainages, biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture, and myelography. This role requires autonomy in decision-making regarding patient assessment, management, and providing a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services. The RPA will assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient, obtain patient consent for procedures, and administer intravenous medications or contrast media under the supervision of a certified radiologist. The position involves performing fluoroscopic procedures, both dynamic and static, and specialized imaging procedures under supervision. The RPA will also protocol imaging studies, scribe preliminary reports on all imaging modalities, and issue critical results dictated by the attending radiologist. Other work-related duties as assigned or requested will also be part of the role.

Requirements

Graduate of a CBRPA program or ARRT program
Must have a Masters degree of Health Science Radiologist Assistant
At least two years of experience in diagnostic radiology (scribing plain films, ultrasounds and CT reports for review with the interpreting radiologist.
Registered / licensed as a Radiology Physician Extender and radiologic technologist in the State of Massachusetts
In good standing and active registration with CBRPA or ARRT.

Responsibilities

Scribe US, CR and CT reports for review with interpreting radiologist.
Audit radiologists’ reports for voice recognition errors.
Work closely with the ultrasound department and perform US-guided procedures such as hysterosonograms under the supervision of a radiologist.
Engage in fluoroscopic guided Upper GI series, Hysterosalpingography, ERCP, LPs, Myelography, VCUG, Barium swallows.

Assist in the performance of non-endovascular imaging and guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including but not limited to drainages, biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, lumbar puncture and myelography.
Exercise autonomy in decision making with regards to patient assessment, patient management and in providing a broad range of radiology diagnostic and interventional services.
Assess and evaluate the physiologic and psychological responsiveness of each patient.
Obtain patient consent for procedures.
Administer intravenous medications or contrast media, under the supervision of a certified radiologist.
Perform fluoroscopic procedures, both dynamic and static.
Perform specialized imaging procedures under the supervision of a certified radiologist.
Protocol imaging studies.
Scribe preliminary reports on all imaging modalities to be reviewed and finalized by an attending radiologist.
Issue critical results dictated by the attending radiologist.
Perform other work related duties as assigned or requested.
