About The Position

The Radiology Assistant performs patient care and support functions to assist technologists and nurses with radiology exams and delegated medical procedures under the direct supervision of a physician. The role includes processing x-ray studies for clinician interpretation, maintaining supplies, and cleaning imaging rooms in preparation for the next patient.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Less than one year of experience.

Nice To Haves

Medical experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exams or procedures and assist the technologist, nurse, or physician.
Maintain patient and staff confidentiality.
Help patients cooperate by reducing anxiety, explaining treatment, and answering questions.
Verify patient identity using two forms of identification according to hospital policy and AIDET.
Operate and maintain equipment safely and according to established policies and procedures.
Maintain a clean, serviceable work environment to support patient care.
Maintain adequate equipment and supply inventory and place general and special supply orders promptly.
Thoroughly clean rooms for the next patient and recommend terminal cleaning to meet infection-control standards.
Wear a personal monitoring device on the collar and outside the apron, and submit it promptly and regularly for occupational dosage assessment.
Immediately report loss, damage, or unusual events involving the personal monitoring device to the Radiation Safety Office.
Observe patients, recognize changes in condition, and seek appropriate assistance.
Verify requisitions and charts for a valid written order, priority, date, ordering comments, physician notes, procedural precautions, time-out requirements, and patient consent forms.
Ensure records are completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
