About The Position

UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) is seeking a skilled radiologic technologist to assist in essential patient diagnostic imaging procedures. This full-time position involves operating general stationary and portable x-ray equipment, assisting with procedures including patient care, equipment settings, and troubleshooting. The role also includes performing cross-sectional imaging such as CT and/or MRI, and taking x-rays on large, small, and exotic patients. The schedule is Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Requirements

  • Experience in digital radiography
  • Associate's Degree Required
  • Certified American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed in other cross-sectional modalities
  • Experience handling large and small animals
  • Experience in fluoroscopy
  • Certification in CT/MRI preferred

Responsibilities

  • Processes images, film, and/or other scanning documentation in accordance to guidelines and photographic technique.
  • Performs quality control activities to ensure optimal quality radiographs (5%)
  • Transports patients/participants within department, to and from waiting area, as required (5%)
  • Performs cross-sectional studies and administration of tracers (20%)
  • Perform fluoroscopy exams and mobile x-ray on patients as needed (10%)
  • Performs radiologic procedures as assigned adhering to prescribed techniques (5%)
  • Troubleshoots and reports equipment problems to supervisor (5%)
  • Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or other radiologic scanning procedures.
  • Adjusts equipment, determines proper voltage, current and desired exposure time, arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient/participant, adjusts lead shields to protect unaffected parts of the patient's/participant's body, adjusts cone to direct concentration of rays on specific area, and selects proper film (30%)
  • Cleans and disinfects patient/participant rooms and equipment to maintain highest quality safety and cleanliness standards (5%)
  • Performs imaging studies on large and small animals (10%)
  • Prepares, assesses, and observes patient/participant for procedures and possible reactions or outcomes (5%)
