About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist performs imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, hospital protocols, and established safety standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role operates and maintains imaging equipment, ensures patient safety and comfort, and produces high-quality diagnostic images. The Technologist collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide patient centered care, adheres to regulatory and accreditation requirements, and documents imaging procedures and patient information accurately in the electronic health record. The position may encompass multiple imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, mammography, and other diagnostic imaging services, depending on department needs and certification.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiographic Technology required.
  • Current Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) license in Diagnostic Radiologic Technology required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in pain management workflows would be helpful.
  • Strong general imaging experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures (X-ray, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, or other modalities) across the Diagnostic Imaging department, Surgical Services, Specialty Clinics, Urgent Care, or other Corporation locations, ensuring accuracy, patient safety, and adherence to physician orders and established protocols.
  • Position and educate patients for procedures, clearly explaining the process, ensuring comfort and safety, monitoring patient status throughout, and responding promptly to emergencies or adverse reactions.
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of exposure techniques and radiation protection by adhering to hospital policies and radiation safety standards, including use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and radiation monitoring devices, while administering ionizing radiation and contrast agents, as applicable.
  • Prepare and maintain imaging rooms, ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies for efficient patient flow; verify equipment functionality, troubleshoot, and promptly report any issues to ensure safe and accurate imaging.
  • Document patient information, performance of exam, and imaging results accurately in the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring patient records and documentation supports proper billing for services provided.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to support patient care, optimize workflow, and assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and emergency response as required, maintaining readiness to report within designated timeframes.
  • Adheres to policies, procedures, and standards of care, ensuring patient confidentiality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy.
  • Contribute to assigned work unit by demonstrating a commitment to competent professional diagnostic imaging practice and engaging in opportunities for professional growth.
