About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for producing high-quality diagnostic images while maintaining patient safety as the highest priority. This position performs a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures, including radiography and computed tomography (CT) examinations, in accordance with physician orders, established protocols, and radiation safety standards. The Radiologic Technologist provides compassionate patient care, prepares patients for imaging procedures, operates imaging equipment, ensures accurate documentation within the electronic medical record, and collaborates with physicians and other healthcare professionals to support timely diagnosis and treatment. This role also maintains compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, participates in continuing education and competency training, and contributes to a safe, efficient, and patient-centered imaging department.

Requirements

  • Registered by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Hold and maintain a Medical Imaging License in the State of West Virginia
  • Complete annual Paycom Learning modules and departmental competencies annually.
  • Required to participate in annual ongoing education to perform diagnostic computed tomography (CT) exams including annual training.
  • BLS certification
  • Attends in-services as required.
  • Each technologist must graduate from an accredited school of radiology.
  • 1+ years of hospital Radiology experience.

Nice To Haves

  • If not currently registered, the employee is required to begin orientation to become CT registered.
  • Employee will be afforded the opportunity to train in other modalities that is approved by the Department Director.
  • Perform MRIs and maintain MRI registry as required by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. (If registered)
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for all radiologic examinations and explain procedure
  • Perform all radiologic examinations with safest exposure factors possible.
  • Acquire digital images and prepare for interpretation.
  • Import radiology reports and place them in the EMR.
  • Perform CT scans with safest diagnostic dose.
  • Files exams in appropriate location.
  • Assist others inside and outside the department as needed.
  • Transport patients as necessary.
  • Schedule patients for examinations and provide clear instructions on each procedure to the patient.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly department at all times.
  • Respond positively when asked to perform a task within one’s job description.
  • Maintain a pleasant, polite, attitude when dealing with patients.
  • Show proper respect to supervisory personnel, medical providers and fellow co-workers.
  • Comply with all hospital, departmental policies & Joint Commission compliance.
  • Maintain neat and orderly appearance.
  • Ability to utilize critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to individual patient needs for communication and care requirements.
  • Makes recommendations to the supervisor for improvements to the department.
  • Address patient concerns or problems with the supervisor
  • Assists other departments and hospital physicians as necessary.
