About The Position

Responsible for acquiring quality diagnostic radiographic images for all diagnostic imaging procedures in assigned area of Radiology to provide optimal patient care. This role involves operating radiologic equipment, ensuring patient safety, maintaining records, and collaborating with healthcare teams.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited Radiology Program.
No prior experience required.
Equivalent education recognized and accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) to be eligible to sit for the ARRT(R) credential exam.
Must have American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with certification in Radiography (R) within 3 months of hire.
Must have a Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) - Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) certification 6 months of hire.
Must have a current Healthcare Provider CPR course completion card or obtain certification during initial orientation.
Demonstrate time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrate knowledge of Radiologic equipment.
Demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors.

Responsibilities

Production of quality radiographs of basic and complex exams/procedures, adapting procedures and technical factors based on patient conditions and history.
Participation in the quality review program.
Understanding and adherence to radiation safety regulations and infection control standards.
Performing procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age-specific criteria.
Completing exam charges and image documentation promptly.
Administering contrast material and observing patients for adverse reactions.
Entering accurate patient exam data into the electronic health record.
Preparation of equipment, supplies, and rooms for procedures.
Interviewing patients, conducting screenings, and obtaining medical history.
Explaining procedures and instructing patients.
Answering questions concerning procedures and contrast.
Assisting physicians as needed.
Ensuring proper completion of images and records with patient identification data and labeling.
Maintaining equipment, running quality assurance checks, and reporting maintenance needs.
Maintaining a record of quality assurance tests.
Maintaining passwords for computer systems.
Promptly reporting equipment malfunctions.
Transporting patients to and from the radiographic area.
Consulting with physicians or other healthcare providers regarding x-ray orders, performed procedures, and protocols.
Participating in departmental Performance Improvement Programs.
Promoting Parkland Health mission, vision, and values.
Attending modality meetings.
Functioning as part of an interdisciplinary team and collaborating in patient care delivery.
Prioritizing exams for smooth workflow, minimizing wait times, and addressing stat and urgent requests.
Responding to inquiries, calls, and emails in a timely and professional manner.
Communicating shift hand-off information regarding workflow, equipment, or pending exams.
Engaging in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
Serving as a resource and role model to other staff and team members.
Taking responsibility for own professional growth and development by maintaining ARRT and State licensure.
Completing mandatory Parkland training.

Potentially serving as the Technologist in charge for supervising departmental operations.
