The Radiologic Technologist II is responsible for performing diagnostic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures on all patients. Evaluates image quality and utilizes proper radiation safety practices. Demonstrates working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of main department, interventional radiology, surgery, emergency department, and outpatient surgery. Demonstrates knowledge and skills needed to perform all radiology procedures per protocol and adjusts techniques according to patient needs, i.e., critical or emergency. Consults with providers as needed. Provides practical instruction for students and other health care professionals. Applies critical thinking skills and ensures order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients. Completes documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy or procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record. Practices safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for team members and patients using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with government agencies or other regulatory bodies.
