About The Position

The University of Rochester is seeking a Radiologic Technologist 1 to join their Urgent Care department. This full-time position involves producing high-quality X-ray images in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to departmental policies and provider orders. The role requires a strong understanding of human anatomy, x-ray positioning, and the use of immobilization devices. The technologist will prepare rooms and patients, set up equipment, determine exposure factors, and utilize electronic systems to verify patient information and exam details, practicing dual patient identifier procedures. Responsibilities also include maintaining supplies, producing diagnostic images, transferring patients using assistive devices, and maintaining accurate patient records. Advanced responsibilities may include training new employees or leading daily work activities.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Current NYS licensure.
  • Current ARRT certification with CE credits as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an Imaging Sciences setting.
  • Experience within the URMC Imaging Sciences Department.

Responsibilities

  • Producing high-quality X-ray images by conducting exams in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Verifying and following referring providers' orders while remaining in compliance with Imaging Sciences departmental policies.
  • Possessing a sound understanding of human anatomy as well as x-ray positioning and the use of immobilization devices when warranted.
  • Preparing room and patient per order, properly setting up equipment, positioning patients, and determining proper exposure factors to produce a high-quality image.
  • Utilizing electronic patient information systems to verify patient name, date, appropriate exam, and any special exam specific comments from the provider.
  • Understanding and practicing the Dual patient identifier procedure.
  • Maintaining appropriate supplies in the x-ray rooms.
  • Producing a diagnostic, high-quality image for interpretation by the Radiologist.
  • Transferring patients to and from imaging tables using assistive devices such as ARJO lift, transfer boards, hover mats.
  • Maintaining accurate patient record keeping by properly identifying images and assuring images are sent to the PACS system correctly.
  • Completing and billing for studies accurately.
  • At an advanced level, may train new employees or lead day to day work activities.
