About The Position
The per diem Radiography Technologist Extern performs basic imaging procedures under the supervision of a Certified Radiography Technologist and in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The role is part of Imaging Services, where patient safety, quality, customer service, teamwork, and collaboration are emphasized to support patient outcomes and employee experience. The extern must be enrolled in an accredited radiography technologist program, subject to adequate document submission and verification. The work requires critical thinking, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in an accredited radiography technologist program, subject to adequate document submission and verification.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association; non-eCard certification is specified.
- Critical thinking, effective communication, and decisive judgment.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take appropriate action in a stressful environment.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients by wheelchair, stretcher, bed, or neuro chair to designated sites as requested.
- Greet patients and verify prescriptions, providers, and schedules as needed.
- Communicate with departments to facilitate efficient care.
- Assist in reviewing patient history and physician orders.
- Inform patients about procedures and examinations.
- Assist in preparing equipment and supplies.
- Assist with patient positioning.
