About The Position

This is a travel-focused Radiation Therapist role within radiation oncology, specifically a Radiation Therapy Tech position. The assignment is temporary and located in a hospital setting in Watertown, New York. The role involves delivering prescribed external beam radiation treatments to oncology patients using a Varian TrueBeam system and operating related imaging and treatment delivery equipment. Requirements

  • NY license to practice radiologic technology in hand (required)
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved program of Radiologic Technology
  • Current ARRT registration (Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • One year of radiation therapy experience
  • Current BCLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Knowledge of general anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
  • Ability to work day shift in a hospital setting; comfortable performing duties in a clinical oncology environment

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Varian TrueBeam, and the IX and ARIA software platforms is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver prescribed external beam radiation treatments to oncology patients using a Varian TrueBeam system; operate related imaging and treatment delivery equipment.
  • Perform patient simulation, setup, immobilization, and daily treatment verification imaging to ensure accurate dose delivery.
  • Collaborate with the radiation oncology team to develop and implement treatment plans, consistent with physician orders and established protocols.
  • Maintain precise treatment records, verify patient identity, and document all procedures in the electronic health record.
  • Monitor patient status during treatment, respond to routine concerns, and ensure adherence to radiation safety and ALARA principles.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities and participate in ongoing training related to IX and ARIA software platforms as applicable.
