Radar System Modes & Algorithms Lead

Honeywell Aerospace•Torrance, CA
•$118,000 - $147,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Lead the execution of radar signal processing, modes, and software functions across radar development programs. The work includes weather signal processing, waveform design and implementation, embedded radar software, software architecture, and development of future multi-mode radar capabilities. In collaboration with the PI and other system leads, establish the technical approach and software capabilities for radar prototypes. The role calls for hands-on technical leadership of end-to-end radar signal processing, modes, and software development, from concept through integrated prototype demonstration. The position is hybrid, with three days onsite and two remote, and is based in Torrance, California; Phoenix, Arizona; or Redmond, Washington. It reports to the Senior R&D Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
  • Experience in radar or RF systems, such as radar modes, radar signals, or radar systems.
  • Systems engineering experience in at least two of the following: requirements, design, specification development, modeling, simulation, performance analysis, hardware/software integration, test, or verification.
  • Hands-on experience in radar system architecture and implementation, including subsystems, functional allocation, interfaces, data flows, hardware/software partitioning, and integrated system realization.
  • Hands-on radar mode development and management from operational needs through implementation and integration.
  • Experience designing and optimizing radar waveforms, scan strategies, and radar resource management.
  • Hands-on radar signal-processing and algorithm development, including real-time implementation and optimization.
  • Hands-on experience using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for radar modeling, simulation, algorithm development, and data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience taking radar concepts beyond analysis and simulation into functional hardware prototypes or demonstrators.
  • Must be a U.S. person: a U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or person with protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status, due to U.S. export-control requirements.
