About The Position

Boston Scientific is seeking an R&D Software Design Intern for its Active Implantable Systems (AIS) group. The group designs and develops implant products and technologies that monitor, support diagnosis, and treat irregular heart rhythms, heart failure, and sudden cardiac arrest. AIS provides devices and therapies across the patient continuum of care, from diagnosis through treatment, and aims to address unmet clinical needs. The intern will design and implement software features for medical device prototypes, primarily using Java, with possible contributions in Kotlin, C++, and JavaScript. The role supports mobile and embedded development on Android OS and Linux, and includes collaboration with engineering and clinical teams to translate procedural insights into software requirements. The intern will also help develop and validate test methods that reflect real-world device use, incorporate clinical feedback into software improvements, and analyze clinical datasets to inform device behavior, interface logic, and procedural support tools. This is an onsite internship requiring attendance at the local office five days per week. The internship is 12 weeks, with a start date of May 17 or May 24, 2027. Relocation and housing assistance may be available to eligible applicants. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
