R&D Senior Engineer - High Voltage Equipment
About The Position
As a Senior High Voltage R&D Engineer, you will join a collaborative team focused on designing, developing, testing, and validating high-voltage circuit breaker technologies for critical energy infrastructure worldwide. The role combines power-systems expertise with hands-on product development, testing, and application engineering. You will work in an international environment, take ownership of complex engineering challenges, collaborate across functions, and contribute to solutions from concept and validation through customer application. You are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines. The role offers the opportunity to develop expertise in high-voltage equipment, contribute to next-generation technologies, support product innovation, and drive performance improvements that help advance a reliable and sustainable energy grid.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience in power systems, utilities, substations, or high-voltage equipment applications.
- Strong understanding of power-system fundamentals and industry standards.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications, electrical drawings, and test data.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an interest in innovation and continuous learning.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and collaboration skills in cross-functional and global environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the development of new and existing high-voltage circuit breaker technologies.
- Translate customer and application requirements into practical engineering solutions.
- Support international R&D projects and lead technical work packages when needed.
- Review non-standard specifications and evaluate equipment suitability for customer applications.
- Conduct product performance evaluations, inspections, and root cause investigations.
- Define test requirements and support electrical and electro-mechanical testing programs.
- Analyze test results and develop technical reports supporting product qualification and design decisions.
- Identify innovation opportunities and support patent and intellectual property activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
