R&D Mechanical Engineer

FANUC America Corporation•Rochester Hills, MI

About The Position

The Research & Development Mechanical Engineer executes mechanical design, support, and research engineering tasks for new products in the robotics painting market. Assigned tasks vary in size and complexity and require attention to engineering and design details. The role designs robotic linkages, selects drives and other peripheral components, and evaluates how these elements affect product performance, reliability, and cost. In addition to new product research and development, the engineer resolves issues with existing products and installations. The role works with stakeholders to investigate and address mechanical hardware issues involving motion, electrical, and fluid-handling components. The engineer also develops and carries out paint product validation and performance tests, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and creates technical procedures and product documentation. Some business travel is required as needed.
