About The Position

As an Endoscopy R&D Co-op, you will work alongside diverse, high-performing teams to tackle complex challenges in the healthcare industry. This position offers hands-on experience within an early-stage R&D environment, where you will support exploratory product development through building, testing, and refining prototypes. You will also develop test methods and address technical challenges in a fast-paced, iterative setting. With access to advanced tools, resources, and training, the role is designed to help you grow your technical capabilities and support your overall career development.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Must be graduating in 2027 or 2028.
  • Report Writing Experience.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Must be able to commit to the following program dates July 13th- December 18th,2026.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Marlborough, Massachusetts, Boston Scientific location; transportation will not be provided by the company.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship/co-op or research experience.
  • Willingness to be hands-on for assembling prototypes for testing
  • Experience with basic tools for assembly i.e. hand tools, Dremel’s, epoxies/adhesives, heat shrink etc.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement solutions on the fly.
  • Experience in engineering tools- FEA, machining, or 3-D printing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates materials, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment for early stage Exploratory programs
  • Works “hands-on” in performing testing, troubleshooting, and prototype assembly for new products and technologies
  • Utilizes CAD/SolidWorks as required while completing assignments
  • Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments
  • Performs basic statistical analyses as necessary
  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development
  • Gathers and provides technical data for technical reviews
  • Contributes or prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community
  • Contributes ideas to or generates Intellectual Property submissions
  • Works cooperatively and collaboratively with peers, engineering personnel, technicians, and management
  • May provide material testing support and analysis
