IPG is one of the largest tape and packaging manufacturers in North America, serving customers such as Amazon, Boeing, Ford, and GE. The Research & Development department, located in Marysville, Michigan, is responsible for investigating new technologies, product designs, developing new products, improving existing products, and reverse engineering competitor products. The department is equipped with extensive pilot manufacturing, testing capabilities, analytical instruments, and computer resources. IPG R&D has a history of employing student co-ops since 1996. Students in this role will conduct various laboratory tests, meticulously record data in lab notebooks, input data into computers, and contribute to special projects under the guidance of an IPG R&D Chemist. Past co-op students have come from diverse academic backgrounds, including chemistry, math, business, medical, and teaching.
