About The Position

This position conducts experimental research to establish enzyme-based processes for small-molecule pharmaceuticals and promotes process development in collaboration with research teams in Japan, customers, and external resources. The role involves planning, conducting, and reporting experimental research, including enzyme screening, enzyme-based process development, enzyme engineering via genetic engineering, development of cultivation methods using genetically modified microorganisms, development of analytical methods, scale-up studies using external resources, and evaluation of new enzyme-related technologies. The scientist will collaborate with internal R&D personnel, customer-facing staff, experimental equipment suppliers, raw material suppliers, and external technical service providers. Additionally, this role provides technical support for production as needed, conducts research on R&D projects including regulatory requirements and scientific literature, and explores new enzyme-related technologies. The position also involves promoting technical capabilities through customer and conference presentations, supporting sales with technical advice, and collaborating with R&D, Sales, and Marketing teams based on customer feedback. Emotional intelligence skills such as empathy, a positive attitude, excellent communication, flexibility, adaptability, and interpersonal skills are essential. Responsibilities

Conduct experimental research for the purpose of establishing enzyme-based processes for small-molecule pharmaceuticals.
Promote process development in collaboration with research teams in Japan, customers, and external resources.
Plan, conduct, and report experimental research.
Perform enzyme screening.
Develop enzyme-based processes.
Conduct enzyme engineering through genetic engineering.
Develop cultivation methods using genetically modified microorganisms.
Develop analytical methods.
Conduct scale-up studies utilizing external resources.
Evaluate new enzyme-related technologies.
Collaborate closely with internal R&D personnel, customer-facing staff, experimental equipment suppliers, raw material suppliers, and external technical service providers to execute experimental research effectively.
Conduct technical supports for the production as necessary.
Conduct research and information gathering related to R&D projects, including regulatory requirements, scientific literature, technical journals, seminars, customer interviews, and trade shows.
Promote the exploration, evaluation, and introduction of new enzyme-related technologies for future application.
Promote technical capabilities and support the acquisition of new projects through technical presentations to customers and at seminars and conferences.
Support sales personnel by providing technical advice and proposing solutions to customer issues and challenges related to enzyme-based processes.
Collaborate with R&D personnel as well as Sales and Marketing teams to advance the development of enzyme-based processes based on customer feedback.
Maintain complete and open lines of communication with other personnel, functions, or departments.
Keep supervisor informed of status and progress.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and keeping abreast of industry trends and related compliance issues.
