JTEC Consulting•College Park, MD
•Onsite

About The Position

JTEC Consulting LLC is seeking quantum physics researchers with experience in superconducting qubit physics and related technologies to support a federal government program. Work may involve theoretical, experimental, or modeling and simulation approaches. Relevant areas include qubit design and optimization, fabrication, control and readout, gates, performance benchmarking, and analysis of error sources. The role requires reviewing and analyzing research and reports related to quantum computing and qubit technologies, and identifying and articulating new research areas and novel approaches. This is a dynamic technical environment. Team members lead efforts, provide guidance, transition efforts for future development, and monitor ongoing progress. The role is technical leadership rather than supervisory leadership. It also involves supporting the government’s technical element in managing the superconducting portfolio, coordinating technology development tasks, and assessing technical progress, risks, cost, and schedule. The position is on-site in College Park, Maryland; occasional travel is typically no more than 5%. Relocation support for candidates outside the commuting area may be considered. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and hold an active U.S. government security clearance or be eligible to obtain one.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Current U.S. government security clearance or eligibility to obtain a clearance.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related professional experience; experience in related research activity will be considered.
  • At least one publication in a related subject area.
  • Ability to accurately convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise.
  • Ability to write concisely.
  • Persuasive speaking and writing skills.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: theoretical, experimental, or modeling and simulation of superconducting qubits; qubit design and optimization; qubit fabrication; qubit control and readout; qubit gates; performance benchmarking; or analysis of error sources.
  • PhD in Physics or a related field preferred; candidates with a master’s degree in a related discipline will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in quantum information research, experimental or theoretical, particularly quantum computing research.
  • Postdoctoral experience or equivalent.
  • Expertise in quantum information theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently in a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment.
  • Ability to understand and determine current limitations and future improvements in the technical areas.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and expertise in quantum information science.
  • Assimilate and integrate technical inputs from performers and analyze technical deliverables and reports.
  • Assist the government’s technical element in managing the superconducting portfolio.
  • Conduct technical writing and prepare presentation materials.
  • Independently review and summarize relevant technical literature and emerging technologies, and participate in technical exchanges and workshops.
  • Develop and document testing methodologies and protocols aligned with program technology components.
  • Coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks.
  • Continuously analyze technical progress against planned cost and schedule.
  • Perform and track technical and programmatic risk analysis and reviews.
  • Lead efforts, provide guidance, transition efforts for future development, and monitor ongoing progress.

Benefits

  • Group medical plans with company-paid employee premiums and subsidized dependent options.
