About The Position

The Quality & Training Coordinator is a critical hands-on role responsible for ensuring the quality of electrical control panel builds while developing a skilled and qualified workforce. This position serves as a primary trainer and competency validator, working directly with employees to confirm mastery of required skills after training with qualified team members. In addition to quality inspections, this role aligns workforce capabilities with production needs by evaluating skills, validating training completion, and supporting resource planning based on project timelines.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in electrical panel building, controls, or industrial automation.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in quality inspection in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
  • Solid understanding of control panel standards (UL knowledge preferred).
  • Experience with training matrices, competency validation, and skill assessment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (HRIS/LMS exposure a plus).
  • Hands-on leadership and coaching ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to evaluate skill proficiency and ensure mastery.
  • Organization and follow-through on training and documentation.
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.

  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or leading others in a hands-on capacity strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-process and final inspections of electrical control panels to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and schematics, project requirements, and company quality standards.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances and corrective actions.
  • Partner with internal teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to build quality and workmanship.
  • Communicate with teams when panels are ready to be prepared for shipping.
  • Act as a primary trainer for electrical assembly and control panel build processes.
  • Work directly with employees during and after training to ensure understanding and skill development.
  • Validate employee competency by confirming mastery of tasks following training with a qualified employee.
  • Conduct hands-on evaluations to ensure employees can perform tasks independently and accurately.
  • Partner with supervisors and experienced team members to structure effective on-the-job training.
  • Identify skill gaps and provide coaching or retraining as needed.
  • Coordinate onboarding and ongoing training activities in collaboration with supervisors and leadership.
  • Ensure all required training, competency validations, and certifications are completed.
  • Submit completed training documentation and competency validations to HR for official recordkeeping.
  • Provide visibility to leadership on workforce readiness, training progress, and qualification status.
  • Evaluate employee skillsets, competency levels, and training status to support workforce planning.
  • Assist in assigning work based on skill mastery, training progression, and project requirements.
  • Break down project scope into labor and skill-based resource needs aligned with timelines.
  • Partner with production leadership to ensure proper staffing for efficiency and quality outcomes.
  • Support balancing workloads across teams based on capability and demand.
  • Maintain internal trackers for training progress, skill matrices, and competency status (non-HR records).
  • Support updates to training matrices, qualification standards, and SOPs.
  • Identify and implement improvements in training methods, validation processes, and quality practices.
  • Support audit readiness by ensuring documentation is completed and properly submitted.
  • Maintain equipment specification sheets and calibration records.
