About The Position

My client is seeking a hands-on Quality Manager to build and lead the quality function within a growing heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This is not a maintain what already exists role. This is a true stand-up opportunity for someone who wants ownership, influence, and the ability to shape quality systems from the ground up. The successful candidate will oversee quality from incoming material inspection through final testing and customer documentation while partnering closely with Engineering, Operations, and leadership. This position is ideal for someone who combines technical precision with the ability to work cross-functionally in a production-driven environment.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of quality experience within heavy industrial manufacturing, fabrication, welding, structural steel, heavy equipment, or similar environments
  • Experience developing quality procedures, inspection plans, and documentation systems
  • Strong understanding of welding inspection, blueprint reading, GD&T, and dimensional inspection
  • Experience with NCR/CAPA processes
  • Strong technical writing and analytical skills
  • Comfortable balancing shop floor activity with administrative responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and inspection plans
  • Manage document control and revision tracking
  • Lead NCR, CAPA, and root cause investigation processes
  • Maintain calibration and quality record systems
  • Oversee welding qualification documentation and inspection records
  • Conduct and oversee in-process and final inspections
  • Coordinate and document load testing activities
  • Review NDT/NDE results and supporting certifications
  • Verify incoming material conformance and traceability
  • Maintain detailed inspection and audit records
  • Partner with Engineering on design quality and manufacturability
  • Work closely with Production to improve quality execution and reduce rework
  • Present quality metrics and trends to leadership
  • Interface with customers, inspectors, and auditors as needed
  • Support compliance with applicable industrial and welding standards
  • Maintain audit readiness
  • Drive process improvements and corrective actions
  • Track and report KPIs including scrap, rework, NCR closure, and first-pass yield
