About The Position

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and ensuring the effectiveness, compliance, and continuous improvement of the site Quality Management System and Food Safety programs. This role ensures products meet internal specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards while supporting Amcor’s commitment to product safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The Quality Manager partners cross-functionally to drive quality performance, strengthen food safety culture, and ensure consistent, compliant operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Engineering, Science, Statistics, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Quality leadership role within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience managing teams of 10 or more employees preferred
  • Food packaging or food-contact manufacturing experience strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of SQF, HACCP, and Food Safety systems
  • HACCP certification strongly preferred
  • ISO Internal Auditor certification preferred
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and customer quality standards
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical capabilities
  • Experience managing budgets and performance metrics
  • Ability to collaborate and influence across all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout production and warehouse areas for extended periods
  • Ability to bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs or ladders, and access equipment during audits and investigations
  • Ability to lift or carry items up to 30 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Visual acuity required to inspect products, review documentation, and evaluate equipment.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Manufacturing and food-contact packaging environment with exposure to: Noise, moving machinery, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, hair restraints, gloves, and safety-toe footwear
  • May require off-shift or weekend work to support audits, investigations, or operational needs
  • Occasional travel may be required

Responsibilities

  • Champion a Safety-First culture, ensuring protection of employees, consumers, and product integrity
  • Ensure safe work practices within the Quality team and compliance with all safety and GMP requirements
  • Support incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Establish, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with Amcor standards
  • Ensure compliance with all internal quality procedures, customer requirements, and external certifications
  • Maintain accurate, traceable, and audit-ready quality documentation and records
  • Support internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of findings
  • Lead site Food Safety and SQF programs, ensuring compliance with HACCP, prerequisite programs, and regulatory standards
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert on food safety and product integrity
  • Drive audit readiness and certification success
  • Promote a strong food safety culture through training, communication, and accountability
  • Manage customer complaints, non-conformances, and credit requests
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions
  • Communicate effectively with customers regarding quality concerns and resolutions
  • Monitor and analyze trends to improve customer satisfaction
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, consistency, and process performance
  • Analyze quality data and metrics to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Develop and manage the Quality department budget
  • Support cost optimization through defect reduction and process improvements
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) processes for materials, processes, and products
  • Oversee validation activities including IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols
  • Ensure all changes are evaluated for impact to quality, food safety, and compliance prior to implementation
  • Lead, coach, and develop Quality team members
  • Establish performance expectations and accountability standards
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development
  • Ensure adherence to GMP, safety, and company policies
  • Partner with Human Resources to support engagement, training, and workforce planning
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and HR to align on quality and operational goals
  • Support site leadership with risk mitigation, decision-making, and compliance initiatives
  • Participate in plant leadership meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
