Performs inspections, checks, and tests for quality assurance of manufactured products to ensure compliance with product specifications. This position is a full-time (minimum 40 hours per week) on-site position. The role involves inspecting inbound pole sections for casting defects, monitoring AGT results, managing the scrap process, preparing scrap reporting, and performing ASCE sample processes. The Quality Inspector also directs sample collection, shipment, and tracking, maintains test results, and performs gauging program functions, including bi-monthly inspections of gauges and random gauging of section inventory. This role utilizes various tools such as gauges, calipers, micrometers, and ultrasound. The Quality Inspector works with an Enterprise liaison to ensure AGT processing rules and reporting are accurate. They monitor work performed by hourly employees in Section Preparation, implement necessary changes with the area supervisor, and perform quality checks across the department to ensure Enterprise quality checks are providing expected results, including PermaSafe inspections and accuracy of insertion data and pole length. Additionally, they ensure bundling standards are met, conduct finished goods dock audits for appearance, packaging, and accurate marking, and maintain a culture of continuous improvement. The position requires reporting possible or actual work delays to the supervisor, fostering positive work relationships, and observing/enforcing housekeeping, safety, and plant rules. The Quality Inspector fosters an environment of continuous improvement while supporting the McWane way compass points. This job has limited supervisory responsibilities, overseeing the work of hourly workers in Section Preparation lines and Utility Operators.
