UCT is looking for a talented Quality Inspector II – CMM & Precision Manufacturing to join our team in Hayward, CA! This is a hands-on inspection role focused on ensuring the quality of precision-manufactured components and assemblies. The ideal candidate is a self-sufficient inspector with strong experience in GD&T, blueprint interpretation, and CMM operation, capable of supporting production with minimal oversight.

Requirements

  • Strong ability to interpret GD&T and engineering drawings independently
  • Hands-on experience operating manual CMMs and editing basic programs
  • Working knowledge of machining, fabrication, and precision sheet metal inspection
  • Familiarity with secondary processes (paint, plating, powder coat, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret weld symbols, callouts, and specifications
  • Proficiency in mechanical measurement techniques and inspection tools
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • Solid communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Basic computer proficiency (MS Office, inspection systems)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2–5 years of hands-on quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to perform first article, in-process, and final inspections independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in semiconductor, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments
  • Cleanroom experience
  • Exposure to New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • ASQ certification (CQI or equivalent)
  • Experience training or mentoring junior inspectors

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision mechanical inspections throughout the manufacturing process, including: Incoming (receiving), first article, in-process, and final inspections Raw materials, machined parts, sheet metal components, and assemblies
  • Independently read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, BOMs, and specifications, applying GD&T on a daily basis
  • Operate manual CMM equipment, including making basic program edits to ensure accurate measurements
  • Inspect complex components and assemblies, including precision sheet metal and fabricated parts
  • Use standard inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.) to verify dimensional accuracy
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and nonconformance reports (NCRs), ensuring accuracy and traceability
  • Identify quality issues, escalate nonconformances, and support root cause and corrective action activities
  • Audit production processes and documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures
  • Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to inspection methods and workflows
  • Assist in training and guiding Quality Inspector I team members
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
