About The Position

The Quality Inspection Lead supports quality assurance and laboratory operations at LISI AEROSPACE, ensuring products, services, and operations meet customer requirements, internal procedures, and applicable industry standards. The role includes inspecting aerospace fasteners and other components, conducting or supporting physical and metallurgical testing, managing gages and calibration activities, maintaining records and certifications, and helping production flow smoothly during the shift. The Lead trains less-skilled employees and coordinates work, supplies, safety practices, and continuous-improvement activities. This position has no supervisory duties. The schedule is Friday through Sunday, 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The stated pay range is $34.26–$40.93 per hour, depending on experience, with eligibility for a $1.50-per-hour weekend shift differential. The role requires compliance with company and government safety, environmental, and hazardous-materials requirements. Work is performed in an industrial environment with noise levels that are usually moderate to loud. Employees must wear required personal protective equipment in designated areas.

  • Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring equipment; determine inspection methods when needed; read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Inspect, adjust, and verify gages and measuring instruments; issue gages to production; review calibration certifications and coordinate internal and external calibration activities.
  • Prepare First Article inspection documents, inspection reports, product certifications, and other required quality records; review final inspection documentation and assist the compliance team.
  • Process customer returns, maintain inspection records, scan and file paperwork, enter data, and support disposition of rejection tags and preliminary reviews of product rejections.
  • Coordinate inspection activities with production-area leads and employees, delegate work across inspection areas, schedule shift work, troubleshoot issues, and help prevent production bottlenecks.
  • Lead projects in assigned work areas; maintain supply inventories and product-supply lists; order supplies; submit maintenance requests; and send beginning- and end-of-shift reports.
  • Conduct physical and metallurgical tests on in-process and final parts, including mechanical tests such as tensile, shear, fatigue, stress durability, installation force, and torque testing.
  • Prepare metallurgical mounts using grinding, cutting, polishing, and etching; conduct sampling and raw-material verification; and perform data-reduction calculations and photographic documentation as needed.
  • Review drawings, specifications, sampling plans, and test requirements; verify test-equipment calibration before use; review lab results and ensure required operations are complete.
  • Move materials and samples between departments; verify identification tags and documentation; enter work-order information in the Shop Floor System; and assist with shipping, receiving, stocking, and product counts as needed.
  • Assist manufacturing, quality control, engineering, the Preliminary Material Review Team, and the quality lab with conformance assessments, research, failure analysis, test programs, and laboratory procedures and reports.
  • Manage gages through the GageTrak system, monitor gage-room temperature and humidity, maintain test-bolt inventory, process new-gage orders, and manage calibration schedules and reports.
  • Review laboratory and gage certificates, support engineering projects as a gage resource, and maintain measurement-of-uncertainty calculations for required gages.
  • Train less-skilled employees and trainees, provide refresher training to inspectors and lab technicians, and conduct internal round robins for technicians.
