About The Position

Clinica Sierra Vista is seeking a Quality Improvement Specialist-BH to join their Behavioral Health Quality team. This role is highly flexible and cross-functional, supporting quality improvement initiatives across multiple Behavioral Health programs and sites, including mental health and substance use disorder services. The specialist will coordinate compliance activities, conduct audits, monitor documentation standards, and provide data reporting to meet organizational, contractual, and regulatory requirements. This position is not site-based and is expected to provide coverage and support wherever operational needs arise, acting as a vital resource for maintaining quality operations during staffing gaps, high-volume periods, or special projects.

Requirements

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college, or university, with a major in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Behavioral Science, Social Work or related field preferred.
  • A clean drug screen confirmation.
  • Pass DMV background check.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and provide summary reports that alert the BH Quality Improvement Manager and Leadership of upcoming chart compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory notices, safety practices, and environment of care standards.
  • Conduct quality control test calls to assess veracity and quality of service claims.
  • Conduct internal chart audits to ensure compliance with State (DHCS) standards, as well as county and contract standards.
  • Monitor provider documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and technical compliance.
  • Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) system to create reports, templates, and tracking tools for compliance monitoring.
  • Monitor and facilitate staff compliance with HIPAA, W&IC, and other efforts to preserve the integrity of protected health information.
  • Track and report service volume and productivity by program, team, and provider.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with internal teams and external county representatives.
  • Support Clinic Managers and Leadership to ensure staff compliance with EHR requirements and required training.
  • Independently prioritize workload across multiple assignments to meet competing deadlines.
  • Identify compliance risks and proactively escalate issues to Leadership.
  • Maintain compliance to Medi-Cal certification for SUD sites.
  • Submitting the daily census for all SUD sites.
  • Submit required monthly reporting (Client roster, PC 1000, white form, etc).
  • Conduct chart compliance audits (2-3 per site) monthly.
  • Monitor physicals, Tx plans, assessments, discharges, and documentation for SUD sites.
  • Monitor and maintain client admissions for SUD sites.
  • Scan necessary documents into charts for SUD sites.
  • Maintain relationship with county IT team to resolve any technical difficulties for SUD sites.
  • May be responsible for the monitoring and follow up for more than one program.
