About The Position

The Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Specialist monitors and provides consultation and direction to ensure programs and services are implemented at the highest standards and with the appropriate level of care. This role also ensures positive communications and promotes the importance of ongoing quality improvement efforts within the Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (CSCD). The CSCD is one of the largest probation departments in the United States, supervising over 70,000 individuals and employing more than 600 staff members across 6 locations. They offer a wide range of services including community supervision, outpatient counseling, cognitive-behavioral programming, and residential treatment, all designed to strengthen clients' abilities and support their long-term success through evidence-based practices aimed at improving outcomes and reducing recidivism.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree conferred by an institution of higher education accredited by an accrediting organization recognized by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with data systems, including generating, analyzing, and summarizing data reports.
  • Strong technical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word.
  • Exceptional networking skills, understand and participate in collaboration with others, and be able to establish and maintain broad contacts throughout the organization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Meet requirements for access to Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and conduct internal and external reviews and audits.
  • Perform routine quality assurance reviews utilizing reports generated from the case management system and other data sources.
  • Prepare reports to communicate outcomes of quality assurance activities including the results of internal and external reviews, audits, and report findings.
  • Disseminate caseload and program outcomes to department representatives in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Summarize reports and data in a timely and accurate manner to share with agency leadership.
  • Maintain accurate records of quality assurance activities including required forms, correspondence, supporting documents, interview notes, meeting minutes, recommendations, and final reports.
  • Collaborate with agency leadership regarding internal reviews, audits, and report findings to adopt best practices and continuous quality improvement in all areas of the agency.
  • Provide technical assistance, coaching, and consultation to staff and supervisors on quality standards, documentation, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Identify systemic issues and trends through data analysis and recommend process or policy changes to leadership.
  • Create training materials and visual aids to assist in improving processes or enhance delivery of services.
  • Propose solutions that enhance the delivery of services, streamline processes, and/or address deficient areas.
  • Assist with the ongoing development of the QA/QI processes.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and technical accuracy in completing tasks.
  • Communicate clearly and collaboratively with others to achieve shared goals.
  • Foster a positive work environment by communicating and behaving cooperatively, respectfully, and amicably with management, co-workers, CSCD personnel, and the public.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and work overtime as required.
