About The Position

Quality Engineer is an integral part of the Quality team within Silgan Plastics. This Quality Engineer will conduct several different types of analysis, testing and follow-up. Also, consistently ensuring that machines are set up correctly and reading measurements properly.

Requirements

• 5 years in a Quality related field
• strong SPC knowledge
• manufacturing experience
• SPC
• measuring equipment and devices
• daily data analysis
• extremely strong Microsoft Suite experience, including Excel.
• A strong working knowledge of SPC and Quality experience in a manufacturing facility is integral for the role.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelors in a technical field
• 5 years as a Quality Engineer in a plastics manufacturing environment.
• Auditing experience

Responsibilities

• Has a fundamental responsibility to ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all duties listed below:
• Promote a safe working environment
• Understands and adheres to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers
• Ownership of WinSPC system management. Ensure the WinSPC system is working properly throughout the facility. Work with Quality Manager and plant staff in managing the system.
• Setup new item numbers based on blueprints and documented specifications.
• Facilitate activities and data review during process capability analyses.
• Manage the AVBIS, ITES, AVID systems and other Quality measuring equipment: Set-ups, maintenance, calibrations, gage control…etc.
• Review Quality data daily then publish results and escalate issues as necessary.
• Follow-up on quality issues from Quality pass-down review and as directed by the Quality Manager.
• Create challenge samples for leak detection, metal detection, vision system, etc.
• Conduct annual GFSI/HACCP activities: air, light, water, swab, microbial testing.
• Participate in mock recall activities.
• Train employees in measurement techniques.
• Assist in quality procedural training and training of new employees.
• Other duties assigned by the Quality Manager.
