About The Position

East/West is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Quality Engineer to join our team. We are open to candidates of all skill levels. As a Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality of our products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality issues, establish and implement quality standards, and continuously improve our quality management system. EAST/WEST INDUSTRIES INC. is a woman-owned small business located in Ronkonkoma, NY. We are a world leader in the development and production of aircraft seats and life support systems for high-performance military aircraft, and ground support equipment for servicing such aircraft.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in an Engineering field or 5+ years requisite experience.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in quality engineering.
  • Ability to approve production sequences according to the company's quality standards.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and approve complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree in an Engineering field (Mechanical preferred)
  • aerospace or military manufacturing industry preferred
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and methodologies, such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and Six Sigma preferred
  • Knowledge of APQP tools a plus (PFMEA, MSA, Control Plan, Process Flow Diagram)
  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools such as Root Cause Analysis, Mistake Proofing, statistical sampling as well as Project Management skills a plus
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance) preferred
  • Knowledge of ERP system preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive product nonconformance issues to closure via a zero-defect mindset and attitude.
  • Form and lead ad-hoc project teams in support of various business needs.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes and procedures to ensure compliance with military, regulatory, and customer standards.
  • Lead root cause analysis and investigations of non-conforming material via utilization of standard root cause and corrective action processes to contain, disposition, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and analyze defect data to identify trends and develop and initiate improvement strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure that quality assurance considerations are incorporated into the design and manufacturing processes.
  • Works with Design and Manufacturing Engineering staff to support the planning of the manufacturing process for new product introduction using APQP.
  • Use analytical techniques to identify problems and create solutions.
  • Reviews shop work instruction templates to ensure conformity and accuracy in the production process, including verification points.
  • Develop and review quality standards, methods, work instructions, and procedures for the inspection and compliance of manufactured and procured products.
