About The Position

The Quality Coordinator is responsible for managing the company’s quality system to ensure the plant meets all quality system requirements for customer certification, ISO/TS16949, and the 2009 standard. This role involves leading the Welding Department, managing and improving the Cost of Quality, and implementing new technologies in Quality and Welding. The coordinator will oversee customer service related to quality performance, customer-required testing, and maintaining/improving customer quality ratings. Responsibilities include assuring product quality from raw material receipt to finished product delivery, promoting continuous improvement, and supporting new project implementations. The role also involves managing the data collection system, ensuring timely and accurate data, managing daily containment activities, and driving teams to complete problem-solving and documentation for customer rejects. A key aspect is understanding technical details related to quality in assembly, welding, GD&T, forming, and E-coat to effectively problem-solve and communicate with customers. The Quality Coordinator must escalate customer concerns and defects promptly and ensure IATF compliance for recertification audits. Additionally, the role focuses on improving safety through innovation and team concepts, proactively improving working conditions, offering system improvement ideas, and achieving plant quality objectives. The coordinator is expected to ensure 100% on-time delivery and target 0 PPM for all customers, understand and exceed customer needs, and actively support the implementation of 5S principles for maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This position is located at the Elizabethtown, KY facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Manufacture Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in the job offered, or in a manufacturing engineering, welding engineering, or quality engineering position within the automotive chassis frame industry.
  • Experience must include the development and validation of welding processes for automotive chassis frames.
  • Hands-on experience developing guidelines and support documents for new programs and projects launches related to welding applications.
  • Experience can be gained concurrently.
  • Understand the technical details related to quality on assembly, welding, GD&T, forming, and E-coat.
  • Ensure IATF compliance is adequately followed and documented to pass all yearly recertification audits.
  • Report all unsafe acts and conditions immediately.
  • Use innovation process and the team concept to improve safety in the plant.
  • Be proactively involved with improving working conditions.
  • Offer ideas for improvement of all systems and help implement them.
  • Understand customer needs and work toward meeting and exceeding them.
  • Actively support full implementation of the 5S’s, using it to approach and keep all areas clean, neat and properly maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Drive teams to ensure proper problem-solving and documentation for customer quality rejects.
  • Understand technical details related to quality (assembly, welding, GD&T, forming, E-coat) for problem-solving and customer communication.
  • Escalate customer concerns and defects internally immediately per company process.
  • Ensure IATF compliance is followed and documented for yearly recertification audits.
  • Report unsafe acts and conditions immediately.

  • Be proactively involved with improving working conditions.
  • Offer ideas for improvement of all systems and help implement them.
  • Lead areas in achieving Plant quality objectives/goals.

  • Understand customer needs and work toward meeting and exceeding them.
  • Actively support full implementation of the 5S’s.
  • Perform other duties/responsibilities as needed at the Elizabethtown, KY facility.
