About The Position

The Quality Control Supervisor leads the site-wide quality control program across sawmill and planer operations to help ensure the mill produces high-value, high-quality lumber. The role oversees QC Technicians and Saw Filers, manages optimization and grading processes, and works with production and maintenance to improve lumber recovery, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement. The position also collaborates with sales and grading agencies and provides operational leadership when needed.

Requirements

High school diploma at minimum.
3–5 years of relevant quality control experience in lumber manufacturing.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental standards.
Advanced problem-solving, troubleshooting, and statistical analysis skills.
Proficiency in optimization technology, scanner calibration, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Proven leadership in team environments.

Responsibilities

Lead the site-wide quality control program across sawmill and planer operations, including the QC Technicians and Saw Filers.
Manage optimization systems, scanner calibrations, changeovers, and equipment parameters to maximize lumber value, grade, and recovery.
Conduct regular audits, monitor kiln performance, and address out-of-spec issues to maintain product and grading standards.
Identify opportunities to improve lumber recovery, product quality, and overall process performance.
Partner with production, maintenance, sales, and grading agencies to resolve quality issues and support product-mix and optimization decisions.
Maintain QC documentation and track site-wide quality activities.
Provide operational leadership when needed.
