About The Position

Vista Metals, Inc., a premier manufacturer of custom tungsten carbide preforms, is seeking a Quality Supervisor / Buyer. This role is crucial for delivering high-quality products to industries such as metal packaging, oil and gas, material removal, and automotive. The company, with a history dating back to 1969, emphasizes innovation, quality, and strong industry relationships. The Quality Supervisor / Buyer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the company's quality management systems to ensure all products meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. This position oversees quality assurance, quality control, continuous improvement, supplier quality, and compliance within an electronics manufacturing environment, working cross-functionally with production, engineering, supply chain, and leadership teams to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, and FMEA.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 2 - 5 years of experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Document System (QDOC) in accordance with applicable standards and customer-specific requirements.
  • Create, approve, and audit SOPs, Work Instructions, and Quality Documents.
  • Lead internal and external quality audits.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards related to carbide manufacturing.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure product quality and process consistency.
  • Analyze quality data, trends, and metrics to identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances and customer complaints.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
  • Establish and monitor incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures.
  • Work with the controller on purchasing and inventory of raw material.
  • Evaluate and monitor supplier performance and quality metrics.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve material and component quality issues.
  • Source and procure metal materials in accordance with company requirements and specifications.
  • Work with company management to negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms with vendors to achieve cost savings.
  • Monitor market trends, commodity pricing, and supply chain conditions for metals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and identify new sourcing opportunities.
  • Issue purchase orders and track orders to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Provide quality-related training to employees across departments.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reduce defects, rework, scrap, and warranty claims through proactive quality management.
