The Quality Control Specialist plays a critical role in a fast-paced perishable produce warehouse, focusing on protecting product quality, maintaining accurate inventory levels, and supporting operational and customer needs. This position involves inspecting inbound and outbound product to ensure compliance with company quality and dating standards. The specialist will work closely with Receiving to identify and address quality concerns with incoming product and collaborate with Purchasing to resolve quality-related issues. This role is ideal for someone who is focused, methodical, and motivated to apply their strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound judgment.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in refrigerated environment, 35-45 degrees
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of produce industry experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and carry out projects with defined objectives and outcomes
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately with numbers and data
  • Effective communication and relationship‑building skills; ability to work productively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated good judgment, including awareness of the financial and operational impact of decisions
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity and conduct work in a manner that reflects positively on the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with strong emphasis on Excel

Responsibilities

  • Inspect inbound and outbound inventory to ensure quality, dating, and storage standards are met
  • Monitor inventory levels and product condition to support customer demand and reduce loss
  • Walk warehouse and cold-storage areas multiple times daily to assess product quality and rotation
  • Partner with warehouse, receiving, buying, sales, and operations teams to identify issues and recommend solutions
  • Support internal and external quality audits and certification requirements
  • Analyze quality and inventory trends and report findings to management
  • Help drive continuous improvement through accurate data, strong communication, and practical problem‑solving
