About The Position

Smardt is seeking a Quality Control Inspector for Receiving to join their team in Dorval. As a global pioneer in oil-free centrifugal chiller technology, Smardt provides high-efficiency, energy-saving systems worldwide and operates manufacturing facilities in the US, Canada, Germany, China, and Australia, with over 900 employees. The company is expanding its North American operations and is looking for a Receiving Quality Control Inspector. This role is responsible for inspecting and verifying incoming materials, components, and purchased products to ensure they meet company specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The inspector will support production and operational quality objectives by conducting detailed receiving inspections, identifying non-conforming materials, and ensuring only approved materials are released for manufacturing or operations. The inspector will collaborate with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, Engineering, and Suppliers to resolve quality issues, maintain accurate inspection records, and support continuous improvement initiatives. The position demands strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications, and a commitment to high standards of quality, safety, and accuracy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma completed
  • Interpret and understand drawings and purchase orders
  • Good knowledge of MS Office suite and SharePoint to facilitate regular reporting
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills and be innovative
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good reasoning skills and sound judgement
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to a highly dynamic environment
  • 2 + years industry experience and a good knowledge of industry products and quality documentation
  • Knowledge of ASME code materials and pressure parts
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance Systems and Procedures
  • The ability to communicate in French with our Quebec team is important.
  • Strong English skills are also required to collaborate effectively with our suppliers and global team.

Responsibilities

  • Identify potentially non-conforming parts, prior to placing the material in the inventory or moving it to the production flow
  • Receive and verify shipments are accurate in accordance with the specifications and drawings provided by Smardt
  • Verify purchase orders and drawings to ensure that materials comply with PO requirements
  • Perform a final visual inspection of the products for damages and ensure that all required inspection processes have been completed
  • Prepare incoming inspection reports and documents
  • Complete and maintain inspection reports
  • Pre-approve material in accordance with Engineering, Quality and ASME specifications
  • Help develop and support quality policy, procedures and instructions to ensure product quality, customer satisfaction, attainment of business goals and environmental well-being
  • Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned
