We produce sandwiches and meals for our nation’s K12 students and other government programs, with an additional focus on providing high-volume items for selected private-brand retail customers. Position Summary: The Quality Technician supports the facility’s food safety and quality programs in a USDA-regulated ready-to-eat (RTE) food manufacturing environment. This position maintains accurate quality records, performs production and facility inspections, coordinates product and environmental sampling, verifies labels and packaging, and promptly communicates food safety or regulatory concerns. The role works closely with Operations, Sanitation, and other departments to help ensure products are produced safely and consistently in accordance with USDA requirements, the facility’s HACCP and food safety programs, customer specifications, and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of inspection and/or production experience
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information, communicate the results, and drive actions to respond to the data.
  • Natural inclination to use technology, information systems, and a variety of software applications.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to understand work instructions, complete food safety and quality records, interpret labels and specifications, and communicate food safety or quality concerns.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a USDA-regulated food manufacturing facility, particularly a ready-to-eat environment, is preferred. Familiarity with HACCP, GMPs, sanitation, allergen controls, environmental monitoring, and food safety documentation is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inspection reports and daily Line Analysis (data entry)
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, as well as company standards and specifications
  • Perform inspections across all stages of production, shipping, receiving, and warehousing
  • Identify areas for quality control improvement and implement new methods accordingly
  • Communicate quality or compliance concerns with urgency
  • Collect, label, log, store, evaluate, and dispose of retained product samples in accordance with established procedures.
  • Process overnight shipments of laboratory samples and sales samples
  • Calibration of inspection equipment
  • Prepare and collect environmental and investigational swabs, including PACE samples; enter results and complete swabbing for new equipment as required.
  • Collect, document, package, and ship samples to certified laboratories, and accurately enter associated sample and test information.
  • Verify packaging materials, product labels, lot codes, date codes, allergen declarations, and shipping units against approved specifications.
  • Label preparation (for 2nd shift), and label replenishment (for 1st shift)
