About The Position

Graphic Packaging International is a leading manufacturer of paperboard and paper-based packaging for various consumer goods. They are seeking a Quality Assurance Tester (QAT) to perform quality inspections on multiple cup lines. The QAT will follow established testing procedures, identify cup defects, and ensure product quality. The role also involves maintaining a clean work area, assisting colleagues, and contributing to a safe and high-quality production environment. Requirements

  • Ability to perform quality inspections on multiple cup lines.
  • Follow established cup testing procedures and guidelines.
  • Inspect and identify cup defects.
  • Notify affected employees of defects.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
  • Assist other employees.
  • Receive and understand pass down information from the previous shift.
  • Test products according to current procedures.
  • Perform visual inspections of cups.
  • Use a Lasermike to take critical dimension readings.
  • Communicate out-of-specification readings and defects promptly.
  • Create pull tags and complete pulls for failed/suspect product.
  • Enter quality information into a computer database.
  • Complete quality and safety audits.
  • Conduct Tilt Testing and SBUX Tool Kit Testing.
  • Complete CXC inspection and retesting.
  • Complete cycle counts on inventory.
  • Enter issued-unplanned into QAD.
  • Understand, perform, and promote safety rules and procedures.
  • Comply with all safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • Report injuries and potential safety hazards immediately.
  • Practice good sanitation and housekeeping.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in the QAT position to be eligible for training new QATs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality inspections on multiple cup lines.
  • Follow all established cup testing procedures and guidelines.
  • Inspect and identify all possible cup defects and notify all affected employees.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the entire work area.
  • Assist other employees as necessary.
  • Receive pass down from the QAT from the prior shift to be advised of any operational problems with the machinery.
  • Test all products in accordance with current testing procedures.
  • Place cups in a pressurized leak testing unit.
  • Visually inspect consecutive cups for cleanliness, print clarity, defects, and appropriate bottom seams.
  • Use a Lasermike to take numerical readings of all critical cup dimensions and communicate out-of-specification results to the CRT and Packer, potentially shutting down the machine.
  • Immediately communicate any detected cup defects to the CRT and Packer and take appropriate action, which may include retrieving defective product from off-site warehouses.
  • Train new QATs as needed, once proficient in the position.
  • Keep the work area clean and ensure it is well-stocked with supplies like tape and labels.
  • Enter quality information from tests and pulls into a computer database.
  • Create pull tags and complete pulls for failed and/or suspect product.
  • Complete quality and safety audits throughout the facility.
  • Conduct Tilt Testing and SBUX Tool Kit Testing.
  • Complete CXC inspection and retesting of production to determine releasability of product.
  • Complete cycle counts on inventory to ensure proper counts in QC hold areas.
  • Enter issued-unplanned into QAD to ensure proper documentation of finished goods to waste.
  • Understand, perform, and promote safety rules and procedures.
  • Comply with all safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • Produce quality product by not accepting defective material, not making defective products, not passing defects to internal customers, and reporting potential quality issues.
  • Practice good sanitation and housekeeping.
