About The Position

The QA Lead Technician supports the analytical testing validation quality team by independently doing hands-on lab duties, including complex testing and documentation and their troubleshooting. This role ensures consistent adherence to established quality standards and regulatory requirements in the design, development, and validation of testing. Execute testing of samples following innovative/non-validated test method draft procedures by utilizing and operating advanced analytical chemistry instrumentation (GC/MS, GPC, UV-Vis, FTIR) to carry out validation of QC testing. Independently perform basic routine testing in support to complex validations. This may include refining the procedures for viscosity, pH, tensile testing, and acid/base titrations. Perform and troubleshoot standardized Test Methods for new products. Responsible for overseeing daily laboratory calibrations and verifications in advanced analytical instruments. I.e., GC, GC/MS, GPC. Perform troubleshooting, and occasional maintenance on both physical/mechanics and chemistry advanced analytical instruments. Prepare calibration standard solutions for building calibration curves on GC and GPC instruments. Verify calibration standards and curves are properly prepared. Troubleshoot when needed. Support laboratory inventory upkeep, researching alternatives when needed. Actively drives efficiency by ensuring supplies are properly stocked, labeled, and accessible. Ensure compliance with company quality standards and industry regulations to maintain quality within the scope of the job description. Beyond documentation and reporting, this requires Communicating with R&D on testing validation matters. This requires to understand the User Needs and their derived specifications, as well as coordinating with production teams to resolve manufacturing inconsistencies. Support safety culture in analytical spaces and follow applicable safety procedures. Perform routine cleaning and housekeeping duties ensuring instruments and workstations are clean and properly maintained. Practical application of internal software like Product Lifecycle Management software (Oracle Agile PLM) and ERP (SAP). In specific, to generate change orders related to QC methods. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Laboratory experience varies by education level: 0 years with a Bachelor’s degree, 2 years with an Associate’s degree, or 4 years with a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with analytical techniques (GC, GPC, UV/Vis, FTIR, rheology, thermal analysis).
  • Experience with basic physical chemistry parameters (pH, pressure, temperature).
  • Proven experience using the Scientific Method and laboratory practices.
  • Experience using calibrated instruments.
  • Experience handling chemicals safely.
  • Basic Computer Skills (Teams, Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Basic Math and basic statistics knowledge are required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Time-management skills.
  • Team-player: ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow procedures.
  • Able to work independently by following clear instructions.
  • Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Proficient in GDP and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry (or related field) is preferred.
  • Science-based intermediate math and statistics preferred.
