About The Position

The Department of Economic Security (DES) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Quality Assurance Investigative Nurse within the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a review/audit system to measure operational and regulatory compliance for direct services, clinical nursing services, and administrative support services at all State Operated Service locations. DDD is dedicated to providing individuals with developmental disabilities and their families with flexible, high-quality, and member-driven services that promote independence, decision-making, and community engagement. Applicants must not be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Arizona.
  • Valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1968.
  • Candidates shall be subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
  • Successfully pass background and reference check.
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
  • Knowledge in principles of nursing care.
  • Knowledge in The Nurse Practice Act in the State of Arizona.
  • Knowledge in Federal Title XIX ICF/IID regulations and interpretive guidance.
  • Knowledge in Medicare and Medicaid.
  • Skills in medical chart review.
  • Skills in assessing, reviewing, and/or analyzing situations and/or data (critical thinking).
  • Skills in oral and written communication.
  • Skills in producing professional technical reports.
  • Skills in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Skills in using computer systems (e.g., Microsoft Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to conduct and coordinate trainings.
  • Ability to recognize indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality of member information consistent with federal and state laws, rules and regulations.
  • Ability to learn Department of Health Services' (DHS) surveying, certification and life safety processes.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts follow-up review/audit of all recommended actions from incident reports, fact findings, and internal investigations.
  • Conduct follow-up related to plans of correction.
  • Prepares reports.
  • Record-keeping to assure compliance with all State Operated policies and state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain metrics related to regulatory compliance.
  • May conduct fact findings and audits.
  • Provides in-services to staff.
