Quality and Food Safety Technician
About The Position
The Quality and Food Safety Technician supports Quality and Food Safety programs at the Wyoming, Michigan plant, helps maintain strong quality systems, and contributes to continuous improvement. The technician works closely with production, sanitation, and cross-functional partners to protect product quality, strengthen compliance, and support facility-wide food safety priorities. The position reports to the Quality and Food Safety Manager. Starting pay is $29.18 per hour. Two shifts are available: 2nd shift, 2:00 p.m.–10:15 p.m., and 3rd shift, 10:00 p.m.–6:15 a.m. The role follows the production schedule, with additional days or hours as needed for PTO coverage, illness, training, audits, and other business needs. Weekend work or shift adjustments may be required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and related work experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and detailed information.
- Intermediate computer literacy in Microsoft software applications.
- Ability to plan and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work independently and across departments.
- Ability to adjust shifts or hours and provide weekend availability based on training and business needs.
- Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Support daily quality and food safety activities across the facility and communicate concerns or improvement opportunities to appropriate partners.
- Assist with inspections, audits, adverse-event investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Support post-sanitation inspections and verification activities to confirm compliance with Quality and Food Safety standards.
- Review and maintain accurate records while monitoring compliance with company policies, food safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Support employee training, digital technology, continuous improvement, and plant-wide food safety initiatives.
