About The Position

Primus Group, Inc., a global leader in food safety for the fresh produce industry, is seeking a Quality and Food Safety Director to support its team in Santa Maria, California. The role supervises, evaluates, and develops the Compliance Team; supports clients and stakeholders on regulatory compliance, food safety, and supply chain concerns; and represents the team in executive discussions and external forums. The position requires domestic travel of up to 30%. Telecommuting is available for up to 25% of the time. Annual wage: $111,925.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Safety, Science, Agricultural Science, or Agricultural Technology.
• Two years of experience in the job or as a Quality and Food Safety Auditor or Analyst.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, evaluate, and develop the Compliance Team through assignment delegation, performance management, and regular mentoring.
• Encourage the team to embrace innovation and adopt new technologies to better support clients in meeting regulatory requirements.
• Establish KPIs, monitor team performance, and present measurable results to leadership to support decision-making.
• Assist with activities related to GFSI benchmark requirements, including the associated processes, documentation, and compliance.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex compliance and client issues, providing solutions and maintaining client satisfaction.
• Anticipate, identify, and mitigate regulatory and operational risks, and implement proactive strategies to safeguard compliance and business continuity.
• Represent the Compliance Team in executive discussions and external forums.
• Support stakeholders with supply chain programs, food safety, and promotion-related concerns, drawing on knowledge of supply chain management and operations in the food and agriculture sector.
• Monitor current and emerging government and industry regulations related to food safety.
