About The Position
Monitor Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) support and evaluation programs and inspection and audit procedures to ensure products and processes comply with corporate and regulatory requirements at a Sysco Specialty Meat and/or Seafood Company.
Requirements
- One to three years of meat and/or seafood industry experience, as appropriate, at a federal CFIA/FDA meat and/or seafood processing plant; raw meat or seafood industry experience alone is acceptable instead of combined experience.
- Ability to write reports and basic business correspondence, present information effectively, and respond to questions from managers.
- Ability to perform arithmetic operations using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts.
- Ability to interpret basic technical instructions.
- Ability to use a personal computer, lab equipment, food preparation equipment, and office communication equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Corrected vision required for sensory analysis to identify color and clarity.
Nice To Haves
- Formal job training in TQM principles, SPC, HACCP concepts, and CFIA/FDA regulations.
- Formal quality and sensory analysis training.
Responsibilities
- Monitor FSQA programs, including HACCP, sanitation standard operating procedures, pest control, good manufacturing practices, approved supplier programs, foreign material control, plant sanitation, chemical control, product quality assurance, customer complaints, food defense, and security.
- Assist with employee training on FSQA programs, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with implementation of the independent FSQA audit program, including SQF audits.
- Assist with product evaluations, plant visits, and supplier and customer communications to support other staff members.
- Assist as needed during emergencies with tasks the plant President or General Manager determines are paramount to the business.
- Interact with SSMC/SSSC personnel, Operations, Sales, Transportation, Maintenance, Sysco Operating Companies, and supplier and customer personnel at the line level.
