QA Automation Performance Engineer

Koniag Government Services•Washington, DC

About The Position

Tuknik Government Services, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is recruiting a QA Automation Performance Engineer to support a U.S. Army customer on a large-scale contracting systems modernization and automation program. This is a contingent recruiting profile for a future new business opportunity; the opening, employing subsidiary, compensation, work location, and staffing depend on final contract authorization. The role requires a Secret security clearance or eligibility appropriate to the assigned work by the start of performance, with ongoing eligibility thereafter. The engineer will create reusable automated test suites and performance evidence for releases, migration waves, and separate IL-5/IL-6 environments. The position emphasizes automation integrated with pipelines and load, stress, endurance, concurrency, recovery, and reliability testing rather than primarily manual functional testing. Work may take place remotely when authorized, at Government facilities, or in controlled office and data-center environments. Work involving classified information or SIPRNet will be conducted at a Government-approved secure location using authorized systems. The role generally supports Government business hours, with occasional release, incident-response, maintenance-window, or approved travel requirements. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field; additional relevant experience may substitute for education.
  • Five or more years of test automation or performance-engineering experience for enterprise web and API applications.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium/WebDriver and one or more performance tools such as Locust, JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
  • Experience integrating automated tests with GitLab or comparable CI/CD platforms and analyzing performance and reliability results.
  • U.S. citizenship and the active security clearance or eligibility required for the assigned work by the start of performance, with ongoing eligibility thereafter.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Government, technical, and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain accurate work records in approved systems.
  • Ability to protect Controlled Unclassified Information and classified information, when assigned, and comply with required access, training, and handling procedures.
  • Skills in UI, workflow, API, and regression automation; load, stress, endurance, and recovery testing; Selenium, FitNesse, Locust, and CI/CD integration; performance analysis and capacity evidence; and test architecture, metrics, and coaching.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Appian, FitNesse for Appian, Appian Locust, Cypress, Postman, SoapUI, or accessibility automation.
  • Experience modeling high-volume, geographically distributed, fiscal year-end, or mission-critical user demand.
  • Performance-testing, cloud, Appian, or Agile testing certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design automated test architecture and integrate test suites into approved CI/CD pipelines and release gates.
  • Assess, repair, and reuse Government-furnished FitNesse/Selenium and Locust scripts before creating replacement automation.
  • Develop maintainable UI, workflow, API, integration, data, accessibility, smoke, and regression automation.
  • Create Locust or approved performance tests for load, stress, endurance, concurrency, soak, recovery, and fiscal year-end surge conditions.
  • Define representative workloads, user journeys, test data, thresholds, baselines, and pass/fail criteria with architecture and operations leads.
  • Execute tests independently within IL-5 and IL-6 using boundary-resident credentials, data, tools, and evidence repositories.
  • Analyze response time, throughput, error rates, queues, resource usage, memory behavior, scaling, and bottlenecks.
  • Publish raw results, trends, defects, and release recommendations to Government-visible dashboards and repositories.
  • Automate test evidence retention and traceability to requirements, changes, packages, environments, and releases.
  • Coach developers and QA staff on testability, automation standards, reliable selectors, data setup, and performance engineering.
  • Protect Controlled Unclassified Information and classified information, when assigned, and comply with required access, training, and handling procedures.
  • Maintain accurate work records in approved systems and communicate clearly with Government, technical, and business stakeholders.
