About The Position

Champion Home Builders is seeking a Purchasing Specialist to join their team in Athens, TX. This role involves managing the purchasing process for manufactured homes, including verifying specifications, processing requests for quotations, gathering market prices, preparing purchase orders, and working with suppliers on invoice and payment issues. The specialist will also maintain price changes with accounting and meet with vendors to review products and orders. Requirements

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Strong analytical skills and be capable of interpreting data and information
  • Able to exercise independent judgment or adopt or modify methods and standards to meet assigned duties/objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks and follow through with requests for assistance
  • Strong attention to detail
  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, and Teams
  • Understanding of supply chain management and inventory management systems
  • Able to meet deadlines, work under pressure and be able to follow best practices and all company policies
  • Able to multitask when managing accounts
  • Able to resolve issues quickly and professionally
  • Sense of urgency in resolving issues and improving processes

Nice To Haves

  • Manufactured housing industry experience desired
  • Purchasing or Materials experience desired

Responsibilities

  • Verifies nomenclature and specifications of purchase requests.
  • Processes Requests for Quotations (RFQs) by assisting with their preparation, sending them to suppliers and following up with suppliers for their timely response.
  • Gathers commodity market prices for reporting purposes.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
  • Work with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
  • Meet with vendors to review new products and review already placed orders.
  • Maintain price changes by working with accounting to keep addendums accurate.
