About The Position

At David Weekley Homes, the Purchasing Manager plays a strategic role in driving cost efficiency, operational performance, and trade partner relationships across the division. This position goes beyond traditional purchasing and is responsible for overseeing sourcing initiatives, contract negotiations, category management efforts, and cost analysis that directly impact the success of our homebuilding operations. This role partners closely with vendors, construction, architecture, and leadership teams to support value-driven decision making while maintaining the quality and service standards that define the David Weekley Homes experience. We are seeking a motivated professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and brings both analytical strength and strong relationship management skills to the team.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, estimating, supply chain, or residential construction operations (homebuilding experience strongly preferred).
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain productive trade partner relationships.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and results-oriented with disciplined work habits and a proactive mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; JD Edwards experience is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Ability to read and interpret residential plans and construction documentation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead bidding efforts, pricing negotiations, and sourcing initiatives to drive cost savings and operational efficiency.
  • Manage and maintain accurate hard costs, pricing structures, and purchasing data.
  • Support division-level category management and trade partner strategies.
  • Develop scopes of work and collaborate with trade partners to ensure alignment on expectations and performance.
  • Partner with Operations, Architecture, and Construction teams on plan reviews, value analysis, and product improvements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, trade partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze pricing trends, identify opportunities for improvement, and communicate updates effectively.
  • Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted resource within the division by demonstrating strong decision-making, accountability, and professionalism.
