About The Position

The Buyer Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and enabling a team of Buyers to ensure uninterrupted supply of raw materials, packaging, and purchased components and finished goods required to support manufacturing operations and customer needs. This role provides strategic direction, prioritization, and oversight to ensure service, inventory, and cost objectives are achieved. The Buyer Manager serves as the primary liaison between Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Suppliers setting expectations, resolving escalations, driving consistency, and advancing continuous improvement across the buying function in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 6–10+ years of experience in supply chain, buying, materials planning, or manufacturing
  • Proven experience leading and developing teams
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing environments, bills of material, and inventory management
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • ERP experience required (Oracle Fusion preferred)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision‑making skills
  • Ability to influence across functions and communicate effectively at multiple levels
  • Comfortable leading in a fast‑paced, evolving environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Buyers to deliver strong execution against service, inventory, and cost goals
  • Provide clear priorities, decision guidance, and escalation support
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑ones, performance reviews, and development planning
  • Build bench strength through hiring, onboarding, and ongoing skill development
  • Foster accountability, engagement, and collaboration within the buying team
  • Establish expectations and governance for buying and materials planning execution
  • Review buying strategies, material plans, and risk mitigation approaches prepared by the team
  • Ensure demand forecasts and production plans are effectively translated into purchase strategies
  • Monitor inventory performance and ensure actions are taken to prevent shortages, excess, or obsolescence
  • Own and review key KPIs (e.g., service level, E&O)
  • Partner with Manufacturing and Production Planning leaders to align material strategies with production needs
  • Collaborate with Procurement leadership on supplier performance, capacity constraints, and strategic initiatives
  • Communicate material risks, constraints, and trade‑offs to stakeholders with clarity and confidence
  • Support successful execution of new product introductions and major transitions
  • Drive standard work, consistency, and best practices across the buying function
  • Lead improvement initiatives that enhance material flow, planning accuracy, and system utilization
  • Champion root cause thinking and corrective action for service failures and inventory issues
  • Ensure planning parameters, data integrity, and process documentation are maintained
