About The Position

Pharmaron is seeking a Purchasing & Logistics Supervisor to lead purchasing, materials planning, and logistics activities for our Waltham, MA operations. This role is ideal for a supply chain professional who enjoys balancing hands-on execution with team leadership, supplier coordination, and global logistics support. In this position, you will oversee purchasing and logistics personnel, support supplier performance and cost management, and help ensure the timely, compliant, and cost-effective flow of materials across domestic and international operations. This role also provides exposure to global import/export processes, including coordination with China-based teams and support for biological shipments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3 to 6 years of experience in purchasing, materials planning, logistics, supply chain, or procurement operations.
  • Prior experience supervising employees or serving as a lead buyer, planner, or logistics lead strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of international logistics, import/export documentation, customs, and trade compliance preferred.
  • Experience supporting regulated, life sciences, biotech, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage supplier, delivery, and material availability issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across internal teams, suppliers, and global business partners.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day purchasing, materials planning, and logistics operations to ensure uninterrupted supply and on-time delivery of materials and services.
  • Supervise purchasing and logistics team members, assign priorities, provide coaching, and drive high performance.
  • Manage domestic and international shipments, including import/export activity, biological shipments, customs documentation, labeling, and trade compliance.
  • Partner with China-based teams to coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, approvals, and cross-border logistics execution.
  • Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality, and delivery metrics; resolve issues and identify alternate sourcing opportunities when needed.
  • Analyze material shortages, delays, and supply chain disruptions; implement corrective actions to minimize operational impact.
  • Review purchase requisitions, quotations, and supplier selections to ensure compliance with company policies and commercial objectives.
  • Develop and improve purchasing, planning, and logistics processes to increase efficiency, service levels, and cost performance.
  • Communicate inventory, supplier, and shipment status updates to internal stakeholders and operations leadership.
  • Prepare logistics and shipment reporting to support performance tracking and decision-making.
