About The Position

The Purchasing Agent position is located at the 87th Medical Group, MTF McGuire, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Salary negotiation may be available for candidates who are new to Federal service.

The position performs detailed reviews of purchase requests for specialized supplies, equipment, and commercial requirements. The Purchasing Agent reviews customer specifications to ensure performance periods, contractor obligations, expected products, and other requirements are clear and adequate; contacts requesters to resolve discrepancies, ambiguities, and unusual problems; determines appropriate procurement sources and methods for commercial, specialized, and urgent requirements; solicits and obtains oral or written quotations using open market procedures; and receives and evaluates formal bids and quotations to determine price reasonableness, compliance with competition requirements, and the offer most advantageous to the Government.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and meet the specialized experience, education, or combined education-and-experience qualification. Specialized experience is one year performing detailed reviews of purchase requests and purchasing supplies and/or equipment. Alternatively, applicants may qualify with nine semester hours of relevant graduate-level education, such as Business or Management, or a qualifying combination of education and experience. Foreign education used to qualify must be evaluated as equivalent to U.S. accredited education or receive full credit at an accredited U.S. institution.

Employment is subject to suitability or fitness determination and a Personnel Security Investigation. Immunization screening is required; Hepatitis B immunization is required for positions involving direct patient contact, and other immunizations may be required depending on the position. Selectees must consent to seasonal influenza vaccination or provide a recognized exemption. The position requires submission of a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 450) upon entry and annually thereafter. A one-year probationary period applies. Direct deposit is required, and relocation/PCS costs are not authorized.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• One year of specialized experience performing detailed reviews of purchase requests and purchasing supplies and/or equipment; alternatively, meet the graduate education requirement or a qualifying combination of education and experience.
• A Personnel Security Investigation and suitability or fitness determination are required.
• Immunization screening is required; Hepatitis B immunization is required for positions with direct patient contact, and other immunizations may be required depending on the position.
• Must consent to seasonal influenza vaccination or provide a recognized exemption.
• Must submit an OGE 278 or OGE 450 financial disclosure report upon entry and annually thereafter.
• Must complete a one-year probationary period.
• Direct deposit of pay is required.
