About The Position

The Purchasing Agent purchases project-related materials, office supplies, and plant supplies. The role is responsible for ensuring purchased materials are delivered on time and at the best possible price. The position has no direct supervisory responsibilities and reports to the Purchasing Manager. Travel is estimated at less than 5%. The position can be remote or hybrid; for employees within a reasonable commuting distance of a SHAPE office, onsite or hybrid work is preferred. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the position.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Efficient use of computers and software, including MS Office and ERP systems.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to manage purchasing responsibilities, internal customers, and vendors concurrently.
Ability to work within a culture that promotes safety, customer satisfaction, and teamwork.
Cross-departmental problem-solving ability.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, and self-motivation.
Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Process assigned project bills of materials.
Convert requisitions into purchase orders.
Process vendor confirmations for purchased items.
Follow up on unconfirmed purchases and generate reports.
Expedite confirmed late purchases and communicate updates to the respective teams.
Process inventory and job transfer items.
Procure office supplies, vending supplies, and safety items, and manage purchased safety items.
Process system shipping requests, request vendor quotes, and place orders.
Process shipping documents for vendor-related item returns.
Perform other additional responsibilities as assigned.
